Homeowner’s Insurance — Taking Care of Your Stuff

When it comes to insuring your home, you want to make sure that you have the right coverage for all of your stuff. Your dwelling insurance will cover damage to your house including but not limited to your roof, garage, sheds, gutters, and fences. That is not all that home insurance covers, however.

Home insurance is more than just covering the house itself in case of hail, wind, or fire. Your insurance also covers your personal property within the home.  Do you have expensive jewelry? Priceless antiques? A costly set of silverware? What about guns, furs, or a coin collection? If these get stolen or damaged, you want to make sure that you have the right coverage to replace the value of everything you own. If properly insured, homeowners insurance goes a long way towards helping you get your life back on track after a theft, natural disaster, or other costly home mishap. Depending on your coverage, your insurance might even help you rent a place to live during major repairs or rebuilding.

House insurance will also cover vandalism to your home, liability for dog bites and slip & fall accidents, and loss assessment charges from your HOA.
